Jonathan Allen Huskey was born July 14, 1994 at 3:33 PM in Dallas, Texas to Alison Bower Huskey and Alfred Monroe Huskey. He was a 30-week preemie with an incredible will to live. Against the odds he came home and grew into a healthy, happy boy, and a thoughtful, dedicated young man. All of his and our hopes and dreams were shattered in an instant on the morning of May 21, 2020. He was only 25 years old.
He loved reading, music, video games, hanging out with family, and our cats. He quite enjoyed studying history, Civil War era in particular. He loved Monty Python and Father Ted and had too many “favorite movies” to count. It would depend what day you asked him. He had an incredible sense of humor and a voracious appetite for learning.
Jonathan worked for Allied Universal as a security guard and was planning to attend the police academy at Navarro college in the coming fall semester. His lifelong dream was to be a police officer. He wanted more than anything else to join the SWAT team and get his EMT certification as well so he could be a tactical medic. Jonathan also thought it would be “sort of fun” to be a mounted officer or K9 certified, not necessarily in that order. Previously he worked for Securitas as a security guard at Navarro Hospital and CVS warehouse in Ennis and as a truck driver for Schneider.
He is survived by his parents; his siblings; Ryan Huskey, Justin Huskey, Cheyenne Huskey and Alanna Huskey; his grandparents; Dawn Weger, Donald Bishop, John and Susan Huskey and Allen Huskey; his great-grandparents, Hans and Patricia Weger, Miller and Pat Bower and Judith Randall. He also leaves behind to cherish his memory, his aunts and uncles; Gregg Bower, Sean and Chelsea Bishop, Sean and Dhorz Bower, Mark and Josefa Bower, Kristie Bower, Alia Huskey, Alice Huskey, Raymond Huskey, Denice Meriam and Shaun LaBreck.
Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, May 29, 2020 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Corley Funeral Home with social distancing enforced. Cremation will be under the direction of Corley Funeral Home at a later date.
